We have seen Deepika’s look as Rani Padmini aka Padmavati and words fail to describe how stunning she looks. But, what lies ahead is the unheard story of the actual character. There have been various historical facts that are still under the covers. I’m sure everyone would want to know them. So, here we bring to you some of the unknown facts about this Queen who made Alauddin Khalji the Sultan of Delhi go mad for her.
A poem named Padmavat was written by Malik Muhammad Jayasi in 1540, almost after 200 years of ruler Khalji’s death in 1316. This is the first evidence of Rani Padmavati’s existence and her mention in historical works. It is also said that she wasn’t a real character and is all an imagination of the poet.
The poem Padmavat begins with the mention of places like Simhala-dvipa where the Princess lived before her marriage. Simhala (Sinhala)-dvipa falls in the Ceylon of yesteryears and present-day Sri Lanka.
